With the death of Dr Lee Wei Ling the Oxley drama may now kick into a higher gear as the General Election is just around the corner.
It was Lee Kuan Yew's request that his daughter be allowed to live in the family home for as long as she wants and now that she's sadly no longer with us the property is under Lee Hsien Yang's complete control.
Not only has he never made it a secret that he wants the house demolished but said it should be done as soon as possible, ostensibly to fulfil his father's dying wish.
With his sister gone and in the absence of any decision by the government to gazette the house as a national monument, he can technically do whatever he wants with the property.
Given his recent political sympathies, siding with the local opposition against the PAP and his elder brother, we can expect him to use the 38 Oxley Road as a tool in the election.
