PAP is handling the lead-up to the 2025 election better than five years ago

Has the ruling party learned the lessons from the 2020 disappointment?

Winning 61% of the vote would be an astonishing success for every other political party in the world, but for the PAP its 2020 tally was the third lowest since Singapore's independence.

What was even more worrying is that the slump came amidst the worst global pandemic in a century, which should have triggered a rally 'round the flag moment, pushing people to vote safely.

If that was the result during Covid-19 then what would it otherwise have been?

But the ruling party really asked for it at the time, making terrible campaign errors despite otherwise excellent handling of the crisis.

This year it's carrying itself much better – but is it going to be enough to yield a better result? Let's examine that.
